Stainless-steel construction
Precision-machined, passivated stainless-steel bodies provide a durable mechanical foundation. High-nickel sliding surfaces are used in ARINC 801 designs to support reliable movement and compatibility.
Optical Interconnect Engineering
XiOptics applies precision materials, controlled spring forces, tuned ceramic interfaces, and field-ready termination methods to fiber-optic connections for harsh environments.
The XiOptics approach
XiOptics’ core technology is built around termini compliant with MIL-PRF-29504 and ARINC 801. The product family is engineered to work inside familiar, industry-standard connector platforms while improving durability, alignment, termination yield, and optical stability.
Solutions span glass optical fiber from 125 to 650 microns and plastic optical fiber from 500 to 1100 microns, with ferrule formats selected to match the media and application.
Materials and design
Precision-machined, passivated stainless-steel bodies provide a durable mechanical foundation. High-nickel sliding surfaces are used in ARINC 801 designs to support reliable movement and compatibility.
Pre-set, precision-ground 17-4 stainless-steel springs maintain consistent contact force through repeated mating cycles and environmental exposure.
Zirconia ceramic components with concentricity and dimensional tolerances controlled to 0.5 micron support accurate fiber alignment, low insertion loss, and stable random-mate performance.
NXTCore adds hex registration tuning to the ARINC 801 format, allowing fiber/core eccentricity to be tuned out for improved single-mode and angled-polish performance.
Bonding-cup and integrated cable-crimp designs capture strength members and jacketing without transferring cable loads into sensitive optical components.
XiOptics termini are designed around established MIL and ARINC interfaces so they can be used across industry-standard circular, rectangular, D-subminiature, and small-form-factor connector systems.
